Puck You! The Legend Returns

I'm impressed, I didn't think the Oil had it in them. I did awful that round, I only got Buffalo right. Nick got 2 right, Al got 1 right, Ryan got 3 right. Ry wins.
Predictions:
Anaheim in 7
Buffalo in 6, but if Eric Cole returns, then Carolina in 6.

The Oilers are victorious, 2-0 winners over San Jose. Okay, my predictions just downright suck this year. I was a dismal 1 for 4 that round, just pathetic. And once again, nobody picked the Oilers. ha ha.
With the Oilers moving on, I'm hearing talk of the newly established Blue Mile like the Red Mile they had in Calgary. But I looked up oilersgirls.com on the Internet and it didn't bring up topless Oiler fans, what's up with that?
Shirts off for Horcoff ladies, come on now!!!

The Senators are done! Buffalo scored a shorthanded goal in overtime to win 3-2. Canada's last hope for a Stanley Cup is the Edmonton Oilers. Go Oil go!

Make it a final! 6-3 for Edmonton! Back to San Jose for what should be another exciting game. It's a best-of-three now! Forget the Red Mile. Whyte Ave. is the place to be!
Wow, behind by two goals twice in this game, Edmonton has scored four unanswered goals to go up 5-3 on the San Jose Sharks! What a game! Vesa Toskala got chased, Evgeni Nabokov is in! Oh man!
Also, one of the craziest goals I've seen tonight to tie the game up at 3. The Sharks, at the tail end of a powerplay, took a shot which had a crazy bounce back through centre ice. The puck moved towards the goal, Toskala went for the puck to clear, but it hit Samsonov who scored on the empty net on the backhand.
In other news, Paul Maurice got hired as the Leafs head coach today. No surprise given the fact he was coaching the Toronto Marlies, the Leafs' AHL affiliate. I don't mind Maurice, and if he keeps to his word that he'll build a team more like San Jose, Anaheim or Buffalo, then great! But I still don't care for Leafs GM John Ferguson, and he needs to bring in more youth for Maurice to work with.

One aspect of the Edmonton Oilers game I've always liked that makes them more exciting than their provincial rivals in Calgary is their team speed. They displayed that in the first period against San Jose tonight. They were outhitting, outshooting them and have a 1-0 lead going into the second period. Shots in the first period were 15-2 Edmonton! They're all over them. Although I predicted San Jose to take this series in six, I still want Edmonton to win for Canada's sake. Another cinderella run by a Canadian team would be great, especially by a team that had to sit and watch its provincial rivals make a run to the finals two years ago. Hopefully they can keep this going.

WOW. Hurricanes vs Devils. Canes have been pressuring Devils the entire third period, and then with 30 seconds left the Devils score the go-ahead goal to make it 2-1. A total heartbreaker, right? A spirit-crusher? A good-as-won goal? Well of course, these are the playoffs and NJ is a strong defensive
NOPE
Canes score with 0.04 seconds left! ZERO POINT ZERO FOUR! That, my friends, is playoff hockey at its finest.

DAMN! DAMN!!! Nick's going to rag me now. Crappy games by the Flames...blah. Don Taylor, regularly I hate his commentary but I did love his comment that he wanted the Flames to win just in the hopes that flamesgirls.com will be resurrected.
First round prediction results:
Nick went 5/8, didn't predict series lengths.
Mike went 5/8, got 3 series lengths right.
Al went 4/8, got 1 series length right.
Ryan went 5/8, got 2 series lenghts right.
I DECLARE MYSELF THE VICTOR!
No one picked Edmonton to win, haha. And I was the only one to pick the Rangers to beat the Devils. What was I thinking?!?
SECOND ROUND PREDICTIONS
Buffalo over Ottawa in 7.
New Jersey over Carolina in 6.
San Jose over Edmonton in 5.
Colorado over Anaheim in 5.

Well I was 4 for 8 on my picks for winning teams in the first round. It could be worse I suppose. Damn you Anaheim, no battle of Alberta this year.

I agree. The net was clearly moved and the goalie interfered with after Selanne scored. What a rip, and you gotta hate seeing missed calls in games of such high importance.
TSN Turning Point, 12 minutes into the Anaheim/Calgary game. Selanne scores but the goal is disallowed because of a dubious interference call. And not only does the goal not count, a Ducks player also gets a penalty! Horrible call by the refs on what should have been a great goal.
Edmonton over Detroit? Entering the third period down by two goals and scoring three unanswered - including one with like a minute left - to win it? Wow. Crazy exciting game. I gotta say I didn't see that one coming.
